Just a boy from Charleston, South Carolina — Born in 1997 He's one of seven children, and a twin — Taj Smalls grew up understanding hardship long before he understood success. Raised in an environment many young minorities know all too well, life came with challenges that forced maturity early. He never knew his father and was largely raised by his older brothers, many of whom became caught in circumstances that carried real consequences. At times, he even found himself stepping into dangerous situations simply to protect the people he loved. Through it all, moments like Christmas morning and tax season became symbols of hope — rare times when life felt a little lighter and dreams felt possible.
After briefly moving to Greenville during elementary & Middle school, Taj eventually returned to the Lowcountry to finish high school at Summerville High. Those years became defining. Deep down, he always knew he did not want to become another statistic or settle for a traditional path that lacked freedom, creativity, or purpose. Shortly after graduating, he pursued a dog training program where he excelled practically, but failed academically after attempting to take shortcuts. That moment became a turning point — a lesson that nothing meaningful in life could be built without discipline, sacrifice, and consistency. Determined to create something larger for himself, he shifted his focus toward the automotive world, building a growing community throughout North and South Carolina through cinematic visuals, photography, and creative storytelling.
Then in 2023, something changed. Taj realized he simply was not working at the level required for the life he envisioned. He stepped away from distractions, stopped dating, limited socializing, and committed himself entirely to the vision. Within months, Ninety 7 Frames transformed from a passion into a legitimate company with momentum impossible to ignore. Fast forward to today, the brand’s resume has grown into a lengthy list of respected corporations, universities, organizations, celebrities, and professional sports affiliations. His work has since been published in multiple South Carolina magazines, but beyond the recognition, Taj’s story represents something far deeper — proof that purpose, discipline, and belief can completely rewrite the direction of a life.
Founded by Taj Smalls in 2019 at just 21 years old, Ninety 7 Frames began as a simple way to create content for his own businesses. What started as necessity quickly became passion. Through years of dedication, creativity, and an obsession with storytelling, that passion evolved into one of the most recognized visual teams across the Carolinas and Georgia.
By 23, Taj had built a creative team of talented young artists who shared the same vision. By 2023, Ninety 7 Frames experienced massive growth — becoming ranked #1 across multiple cities including Charleston, Savannah, Augusta, and Myrtle Beach, all while maintaining an average team age of just 23 years old.
As the brand expanded, so did the opportunities. National organizations like the Atlanta Falcons, Fortune 500 companies, and respected names such as Tracey Edmonds and David Banner experienced the level of quality, professionalism, and intentional storytelling Ninety 7 Frames became known for.
But in 2025, something shifted.
Weddings became more than a service — they became the heart of the company. What mattered most was no longer simply creating visuals, but preserving love at its highest level. The team evolved into a group of genuine people who deeply cared about one another and the couples they served. That shift changed everything.
Today, Ninety 7 Frames specializes in cinematic wedding photography and cinematography designed to preserve every meaningful moment — from quiet in-between glances to unforgettable celebrations surrounded by family and friends. Blending an editorial luxury style with authentic storytelling, every image and film is crafted to feel timeless, emotional, and deeply personal.
Our mission is simple: to create visuals that allow couples to relive their love story for generations to come.
What makes this team different isn’t just the talent behind the cameras — it’s the bond behind the people holding them.
This was never a team randomly assembled for business. It was built through loyalty, long nights, trust, growth, and genuine love for one another. Somewhere along the journey, coworkers became family — and that changes the way we capture weddings forever.
Because when we arrive on your wedding day, we are not showing up as strangers chasing a paycheck. We show up as people who understand the value of emotion, connection, and memories that deserve to live forever.
We don’t see your wedding as a transaction or a dollar sign.
We see it as the beginning of a legacy.
The tears in your parents’ eyes.
The nervous smile before the ceremony.
The uncontrollable laughter during speeches.
The quiet moments nobody else notices.
Those are the moments we live to preserve.
From one family to another, our purpose is to create more than photos and films. We create an experience that allows your love to be felt — not just today, but for generations to come.
A team that takes your Big Day Personal
